Company Overview
Travelers Aid Society of Los Angeles (TASLA) is a 17-employees nonprofit, social service agency assisting people of all ages who are separated from home without the social, economic, and/or emotional resources to resolve this situation. Services rendered include crisis counseling, emergency housing, food, transportation, a drop-in center for youth (Hollywood), job search assistance, referrals both locally & nationally, to name a few. Our headquarters is in Hollywood, as well as our Youth Services Center [Teen Canteen] and we have branch offices at Los Angeles Int'l Airport, People Assisting the Homeless-Regional Homeless Center, People Assisting the Homeless Westside.
Company History
Travelers Aid services in the U.S. began in the early 1850s in St. Louis, Missouri. Travelers Aid Society of Los Angeles was founded in 1922 by Irving Walker, and incorporated in 1944. Teen Canteen was established in 1983.
Notable Accomplishments / Recognition
During fiscal 2005-06, we provided 998,000 travelers with information and direction; we provided 6,710 meals, 2,794 crisis telephone calls, opened 1,557 unduplicated case files for clients, provided 166 Greyhound Bus tickets for people to return home.
