At Paxton Ministries, we are here to provide affordable housing and support services for adults who may be challenged with poverty, mental illness, or intellectual disability. Our staff members and volunteers share Christ-like love, support, and encouragement with our residents each day
Company History
Our founders launched Paxton Ministries more than 30 years ago during a surge of homelessness in the Harrisburg area. They felt led by God to provide a home for the homeless and needy, and their vision quickly spread to other passionate supporters.
Making a bold move of faith, they pursued purchasing what is now Paxton Street Home and believed that if God provided the vision, he would also provide the means to fulfill it. Within just 90 days they raised the money for the first down payment, and went on to raise $500,000 in the months that followed. On November 3, 1981, Paxton Street Home opened its doors.
During our history, we’ve witnessed growth in services, staff, residents and housing options. We now serve more than 100 residents in our housing facilities including Paxton Street Home, Hudson Street Apartments, Boas Street Lodge and Scenery Lodge.
