Company History
Gilda’s Club is named after Gilda Radner, one of the original cast members of “Saturday Night Live.” Throughout her time on the show, she created a number of enduring characters, including Roseanne Roseannadanna, Emily Litella and Baba Wawa. Laughter and love were central themes of Gilda’s career and life, including in her marriage to actor and comedian Gene Wilder. When Gilda was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 1986 she quickly realized the importance of emotional and social support when dealing with her cancer. After attending the Wellness Community in Southern California, Gilda called for such places of participation, education, hope and friendship to be made available to men, women and children with any type of cancer and their families and friends.
Gilda’s Club Evansville was founded from similar hopes and the dream of Ann Moore, who also wanted a local community of support for her family. Gilda's Club Evansville officially opened its doors on February 6, 2014, making Ann’s dream a reality. GCEVV offers many Program activities, groups, and classes for anyone living with cancer along with their families and friends to fulfill our Mission to ensure that all people impacted by cancer are empowered by knowledge, strengthened by action, and sustained by community®.
