The vision of the Council on Aging is to be recognized by the community as its most valuable resource for aging adults and their support system. In conjunction with community partners, the Lake County Council on Aging will provide the highest level of education, advocacy, services and support.

Who We Are
Since 1972, the mission of the Council on Aging is to keep seniors, 60 and over who reside in Lake County, in their homes longer where they feel most comfortable and safe, along with offering support to their families and caregivers. This provides aging adults and their support system with services and opportunities for them to achieve an optimal, self-defined, quality of life.

Notable Accomplishments / Recognition

The Council on Aging has been serving older adults, their families and caregivers since 1972. The mission of the Council on Aging is to provide aging adults and their support system with services and opportunities
that enable them to achieve an optimal, self-defined, quality of life. Services provided by the Council on Aging include:
*Meals on Wheels *congregate meals
*supportive services *volunteer services
*employment services *Vials of Life
*home safety inspection and repairPrograms
Programs for those 60 and older include information and referral, support services, nutrition services, in-home safety, homemaker services, and more.

The agency also offers several programs for those 40 and over who may live in Lake County or surrounding counties. These programs include employment services and computer education.

For all of those 19 and older, the agency offers a wide range of volunteer opportunities that include Meals on Wheels drivers, Friendly Visitors, Grocery Shoppers and Senior Health Insurance volunteers.

Hall of Fame
The Lake County Senior Citizens' Hall of Fame, administered by the Council on Aging, was established in 1994 to publicly honor outstanding older Lake County residents. Nominees must be age 60 or older, a Lake County resident and someone who has had an impact on a person, organization or community since turning age 60. This person presently may be in the workplace or may be someone who volunteers his/her time and talent. A person, group or organization may nominate individuals posthumously.
