Company Overview
Community Care is a behavioral health management company designed primarily to serve the needs of public sector consumers, their families and the communities of Pennsylvania through the delivery of effective and accessible behavioral health services. We take a holistic approach, which balances care delivery, regardless of the funding stream. Our clinical services are sensitive to the nature of the social, physical and behavioral factors of each member and coordinate that with the appropriate level of intensity and duration of care.
Company History
In 1997, Community Care joined forces with Best Healthcare of Western Pennsylvania (Best) and UPMC Health Plan, which resulted in a contract for behavioral health management services and a commercial insurance plan, respectively.
We handle full assumption of risk; utilization management; network development and management; provider relations; claims payment; member services; quality improvement; compliance, and credentialing, as well as financial and other administration.
In 1998, Allegheny County selected Community Care as subcontractor for the Pennsylvania HealthChoices program. As a result, the Department of Public Welfare of Pennsylvania conducted an extensive review of Community Care's infrastructure, clinical system, financial system, and information systems, which were found to be compliant with DPW requirements.
We have continued to provide behavioral health managed care for PA-Medicaid recipients, as well as commercial members, with a community-based focus
