Grant Accountant for CCSWW King County

Responsibilities

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES :

Direct Supervision of staff: 1-4

Primary: Financial over sight for all assigned government and nongovernmental grant contracts. Oversite requires gaining a complete knowledge of all grant contracts, with the major emphasis on the contracts financial requirements.

Will work closely with all program managers to assist them in their contract compliance and invoice preparation. Prepare journal entries for the programs. Assure audit readiness of the programs and that all federal contracts covered by the position are A-133 audit compliant.

Assist in completion of exteranl audit, program audits and SEFA for federal contracts.

Ensure that accurate monthly revenue accruals for the quarterly/monthly billed contracts are completed in a timely fashion each month.

Ensure all general ledger accounts have been adjusted and reconciled on a monthly basis. Meet all financial closing deadlines as required by the Regional Finance Director, Accounting and Compliance Director and contract or grants.

Reconcile and adjust general ledger accounts requiring higher accounting expertise levels in conformance with generally accepted accounting principles. These would include but not be limited Special Events

Assist the Regional Finance Director and Accounting and Compliance Director in customizing and maintaining the various financial reports in SAGE 100, Access, and Excel to meet the needs of internal users. Be available as a trainer to other staff needing assistance in preparation of reports. Determine what the program managers reporting needs are and ensure timely receipt of information for management decision making purposes.

Assist in the preparation of agency internal financial reports in conformance with system wide reporting standards. Prepare other informational reports for internal and external purposes as assigned by the Regional Finance Director.

Other duties and responsibilities for KC Accounting:

Assist in preparation of all tax reports and the section of the 990 tax return, special events and in-kind, for the CCSKC region. Record annual in-kind contributions.

Assist programs assigned by the Regional Finance Director in their annual budget preparation.

Maintain and update the fixed asset schedule and record the monthly depreciation for the agencies $10,700,000 of fixed assets in the general ledger. Will manage the new Procurement Policies for these assets.

Assist in the completion of the Budget spreadsheets with the Finance Director and the Program Managers.

Review and analyze the Service fee accounts of various programs on a monthly basis and make inquiries/adjustments whenever needed.

Other duties as assigned.

Year End and Audit:

Must complete all year-end and audit requirement for all the above duties.

Will assure the employee's supervised by this position accurately complete their yearend and audit responsibilities.

Assist in the management of the grants and contracts filing system for Audit. Prepare, maintain, and reconcile the Schedule of Awards for the annual audit. Monitor compliance as it relates to accounting requirements.

Qualifications

SKILLS AND ABILITIES :

Must have a strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles. High level of general ledger reconciliation skills of complex accounts requiring interpretation and analysis of accounting theories and best practices.

An excellent understanding of the federal A-133 and A-122 requirements for grants, plus the ability to research any other related federal accounting / compliance requirements (CFR's) that apply to contracts. Working knowledge of contract terms and conditions in government contracts pertaining to accounting.

Preparation of informational reports for management decision making using computerized software packages.

Train and motivate staff members.

Experience in a nonprofit, government funded, or social services environment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from an accredited university.


  • 2 years of increasing professional responsibility in non-profit accounting / financial management.


  • 1 year supervisory experience.


  • Strong written and oral interpersonal skills.


  • Excellent computer skills, especially in MS Excel and accounting software packages.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Skilled with MS Access, Word, and Outlook

Experience with Sage accounting software MAS 200 and the Sage ERP 100.

Experience with any other financial report creator such as F9, FRX, and Crystal Reports
